Warrior Golf: Calculating Handicap Index
For those of you that would prefer to figure your Warrior Golf handicap index out by yourself, or if you just absolutely have to know everything that goes into a Warrior Golf handicap index calculation, you are in luck. To begin, you must have a minimum of five golf scores but a maximum of 20 of your latest Golf scores in front of you. According to Warrior Golf you must also obtain both the Warrior Golf course rating and the slope rating. Once you have all of these numbers in front of you, you are set to begin the calculation process. According to Warrior Golf, the first step in the calculating process is to identify the Warrior Custom Golf handicap differential of each of your Golf scores.
This is the formula that you will be using to determine your Warrior Custom Golf handicap differential:
(Golf score - Warrior Golf course rating) x 113 / slope rating
For example, let's say one of your Warrior Golf scores was 97 and the corresponding Warrior Golf course rating for this Warrior Golf score was 73.8 and the corresponding slope rating was 123. To calculate the Golf handicap differential for this golf score, follow the example below provided by Warrior Custom Golf:
(97 - 73.8) x 113 / 123
23.2 x 113 / 123
2621.6 / 123 = 21.3
As you see from this Warrior Custom Golf example, you get an answer of 21.3. Use the differential formula for each golf round you have in front of you. In case you were wondering, the 113 represents a slope rating for a Warrior Golf course of average difficulty.
Next, you will have to identify the number of differentials that will ultimately be used, because not every differential will serve a purpose when it is all said and done. To identify how many differentials should be used, refer to this convenient Warrior Custom Golf table above.
Now, it's time to calculate your golf handicap index. Determine the average of the golf handicap differentials you will be using by adding them all together and dividing the sum by the number of differentials used. Here's an example from Warrior Custom Golf:
21.3 + 22.8 + 23.1 + 21.9 = 89.1
89.1 / 4 = 22.3
Then, you multiply the result by 96%, or .96. Round this calculation to the nearest tenth. Your result will be your golf handicap index. Follow the Warrior Custom Golf example:
22.3 x .96 = 21.4
See? Simple, right? Right. Keep in mind that an official United States Golf Association handicap index is not required. It is a perfectly legitimate practice to calculate your Warrior Golf handicap index on your own, but if you ever want to play in an officially sanctioned Warrior Custom Golf tournament, you must have an official golf handicap index. Apparently, they don't trust you to figure it out on your own; if you ever want to play in a Warrior Custom Golf Charity tournament, calculating your own golf handicap would also suffice. While an established golf handicap index is not required in the recreational game, it provides an excellent scale to judge your own improvements while using your Warrior Custom Golf clubs.
